The Freelance Florist was created to provide a virtual home where the floral industry can come together to share our opportunities, talents and creativity with each other. We now have a thriving community of supportive members who bring our vision to life.
Our platform is run by a passionate team who put all their energies into supporting our industry and the people who work in it. We all have hands-on floristry experience, so understand the challenges our members face. We’re here to support you when things are too busy (or a bit too quiet), when you need advice, some elusive stems or just a friendly face. We look forward to welcoming you to our community soon.
Meet kerry
Hi, I’m Kerry, founder of The Freelance Florist.
My career in flowers began over twelve years ago, when I opened my own flower shop and quickly discovered how flowers bring people together like nothing else. I built a wonderful team and we set to work weaving ourselves in and out of all the big events in our customers' lives. We built relationships with venues, local businesses and funeral directors, and enjoyed all the usual crazy-busy peak times and wedding seasons. Our weekly contract clients became long-term friends.
After my children were born I made the switch from retail to event floristry, and faced the new challenge of having to build a team of skilled florists to suit each job. It was during this time as I painstakingly built a network of reliable freelance florists that I realised there might be a better way of doing this. There was, and it’s called The Freelance Florist. As with all stages of my career, it’s been a learning curve, but one that has been made joyful by the incredible support and feedback I have had from our members. I know that so many wonderful things can be created when we work together, share our knowledge and support each other.
