KENT/LONDON/SOUTH EAST

A BIT ABOUT ME

My love for floristry has been born from my long-standing love of growing flowers and gardening, and I can usually be found in my garden or allotment. I also love to sea swim, walk my dog, read, sing, and spend time with my loved ones. I am also a therapist-in-training and hope to bring this together with floristry as my career progresses, offering therapeutic services through horticulture and floristry.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

I have completed the year-long Season-Led Florist programme at the School of Sustainable Floristry. Using entirely British-grown seasonal flowers, I have learnt seasonal flower preparation and care, vase arrangements, bowl arrangements, bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, farewell sheafs/sprays/wreaths, meadows, bud vases, ikebana, tablescapes, large urn arrangements, as well as larger aerial, mantle and ceremony installations.
Prior to this, I completed the floristry foundation for beginners course at the Westminster Adult Education Service. This course used traditional methods and I learnt flower preparation and care, farewell sprays, centrepieces, headpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres.
Online courses with Bloom and Gray (cut flower growing, conditioning and care), and Bloom and Burn (Floral arrangement design including hand tied bouquets, small and large bowls, tablescapes and styling).
I am committed to continuing my learning throughout my career. This year (2026), I will be continuing my training at in-person workshops with Bloom and Burn and back with the School of Sustainable Floristry. From Autumn 2026, I will be undertaking a 1-year mentorship with Simply by Arrangement.

As a professional florist, I offer floristry for events, weddings, funerals, and workshops. In my first year of business, I have freelanced on multiple weddings, led workshops of my own and by freelancing, and supplied seasonal, sustainable farewell flowers to my customers.
In 2026 I am continuing to build my network within the industry, and experience of the events and weddings space, through freelancing with florists across Kent, London and the South East.
I come to floristry from a 9 year career in public policy, analysis, and public health. The skills I've learnt in project management, team management, and team working will be invaluable to my floristry career. In particular for the last 3 years I have specialised in community engagement, which truly has taught me how to work with people from all works of life & to work in uncertain and changing environments.

PREFERRED TYPE OF FLORISTRY WORK

I really enjoy weddings and events, as they offer the opportunity to work in a variety of styles and using a variety of techniques. Farewell flowers will always hold a special place in my heart, though, as it feels like a real honour to create in rememberence of people's loved ones.
